Dream Home #13

A while back I came across this adorable historic home located in Fayette, Mississippi.  It immediately made be think of Bubba.  He went to school in Mississippi and his accent is so thick that we call it the Mississippi Mumble.  Naturally I bookmarked the home and then moved on to other things.  It was while putting together the Georgia Gothic installation that I was reminded of this little southern gem.  This is the kind of story I love.  Teresa & Mac Thomas wanted a second home and found it in this circa 1825 ramshackle.  "It was nothing that a match couldn't cure," joked Mac.  This is just the kind of project I would throw myself into.  The land and home was once a plantation known as Laurietta.  This home is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places and the Teresa & Mac took that to heart in the restoration by maintaining as much historical integrity as possible.  After three years of renovations they now have the perfect retreat for their family.

A before shot of the entry way shows the state of the interior of the home.

This second home is a great example of high/low living.  Some furnishings in the home are antique while others are purchases from big chain stores like World Market.  This home is beautifully livable.  Something I think we should all strive for.

You can see more photos of Laurrietta and read the full story at Country Living
