This week we're heading to Chester, South Carolina to see an amazing contemporary farmhouse!
This charming home was designed by Charlotte architect Ken Pursley. The design is inspired by a turn of the century icehouse Pursley had seen on Georgia's remote Cumberland Island. The owners Tim and Sarah Belk wanted something contemporary yet complimentary for their family's country retreat. (In case you're wondering - Yes, that is the same Belk as the famous southern department store. Tim runs the family business.) I would say Pursley came through with flying colors. The home blends seamlessly with the surrounding land creating a wonderful place for the Belk family to gather. What I love most about this home is the simplicity of the interior. The use of natural materials in the design takes the fuss out of home making room for full on relaxation and enjoyment. The rope banisters and built-in bunks add a note of whimsy making this home a great place for making memories.
