Strata - Inspired Walls

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Last year the world went ga-ga for emerald green malachite.  Wallpaper, decorative boxes, serving trays, anything and everything was malachite.  As beautiful as this pattern is... my heart belongs to STRATA!

Stratum (plural) is a layer of sedimentary rock or soil with internally consistent characteristics that distinguish it from other layers.

A while back the universe decided that the insanely creative minds of Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson, founders of Apparatus, would collaborate with Zak Profera, owner and creator of Zak & Fox.  The birth child of all this talent was Strata Study Wallpaper & Fabric.  An amazing print with organic flow and modern edge.

I dream of using this print in Archean to completely cover a small niche or powder room in our next home.  In the past I've been fearful of making bold statements and that has to change.  I'm always awe struck when someone dares to be different in a space and they hit it just right and create magic.  Well, it's time I start pushing my own boundaries and shaking things up.  This is a good place to start.

Ally from The Right Bank did something very similar with her wet bar and I think it's fabulous.  Could you imagine a space like this in the Strata print?!  Oh, it makes my heart go pitter patter!

What leaps have you been wanting to take in design?
