When I came across this 19th century Gothic home in Veranda I knew it was a must for the Dream Home line-up. This little beauty is owned by the amazingly talented Furlow Gatewood in a town called Americus. And here I thought Americus was just something made up by Natalie Portman's character in the movie Where The Heart Is. Turns out it's a small town in South West Georgia. Mr. Gatewood was so in love with this structure that he had it sawed in half and trucked 65 miles through Georgia to its final resting place. Within 18 months he had it fully restored and ready for him, his dogs and his peacocks to move in.
Furlow Gatewood has spent his life seeking fine antiques and creating remarkable spaces and designs. Much of his career has been with the world renowned Rosselli & Associates. At 90 years of age Gatewood still travels the world curating antiques and bringing us remarkable interiors. His Gothic home is a showcase for his design savvy and personal tastes.
