The Start Of Something Good

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope y'all are recovering from last nights festivities.  Some of you may be celebrating today with some slow cooked greens and Hop N' John for your New Years Day tradition.  I know Bubba and I will!  Gotta start 2014 off right. For me that means no resolutions.  I believe that resolutions are simply pie crust promises.... You know, easily made and easily broken.  Instead I like to make a list of realistic priorities for the year.  I never promise to lose weight or break a horrible habit  because I feel those are things we should do any day of the year.  Instead I think of things I can do to make the year stellar.  A great example is planning a weekend back home with my girlfriends or setting up a step by step plan to get that master bath of my dreams.  This year the challenges will be different since we're far away from home and essentially starting over.  It can be scary and overwhelming at times, but I'm having to learn that this journey is my own.  It's up to me to make this life the best it can be.  This year I'll be going back to school, looking to join a few community groups and possibly adding a new service to my business, but that's all later in the year.  Today I'm starting with a complete overhaul of our living room.  Our new sofa will be here in a few days, so since New Years Day is about recharging, reflecting and renewing I thought I would put together some of my inspirations for this first project of 2014.

Anything and everything Paris.  I'm currently obsessed with the feeling of warmth and comfort that worn woods, washed out colors and aged stone can give you.

Color, Color, Color, I want vibrant and saturated color.  For this I am looking at pillow fabric an accessories.

The laid back style of Brigitte Bardot.  I think this speaks for itself.

A nod from Sweden.  This rug style is everything I'm wanting right now!

Oxidized oak and solid brass!  This piece has a great mix of natural elements with a modern edge.  It will contrast beautifully with our new English style sofa.

Art will become a part of my life.  I've been putting this off for ages.  The time has come to start investing in all our wall space.  This Antoine Rose would be a great start!

2014.... you're going to be a bitchin year!  Let's get this year started!
