A Sea of Blue

Monday, January 27, 2014

Hope everyone is well this Monday morning!  I thought I'd kick start this week with one of my current obsessions.  Lately I've been drawn to black and dark blue rooms.  I know Pantone declared Radiant Orchid the color of 2014, but I'm going to have to disagree.  These deep navy and teals will always be in style, but it's their application that is changing.  Rooms are being saturated in these colors creating rich and exciting design eye candy. For some rooms nothing is left untouched.  Walls, upholstery and textiles are seamlessly blended in a way that is soothing to the eye.  Other rooms let the walls be the star of the show and leave the decor to compliment these strong colors.

Navy will always be a personal favorite, but this season I'm in love with Peacock Blue (a.k.a. Dark Teal).  I have personally overlooked this color for years and now I can't seem to take my eyes off of it.  Just a touch of this blue can elevate any color scheme.  What color do you love right now?

  3. I agree wholeheartedly that blue is where it's at versus orchid (what the???)! Miles Redd certainly knows how to nail peacock blue lacquer goodness. And I love your round-up of peacock finds.
