Easy DIY Christmas Ornament Napkin Rings

Monday, November 11, 2013

What You'll Need:
Hot Glue Gun
Plain Napkin Rings
Christmas Ornament (must be able to thread)
1 5/8" Ribbon
1 3/8 Contrasting Ribbon
Matching String
Add a small pearl of glue to your napkin ring and attach 5/8" ribbon.  Make sure glue has cooled before completely wrapping ribbon so it doesn't shift.
Tightly wrap ribbon around napkin ring and attach with another pearl of glue.  Cleanly trim ribbon.
(*Note* add second glue pearl next to first glue pearl to avoid building up glue in one spot.)
Do the same process with you contrasting 3/8" ribbon.
Once fully attached be sure to trim your ribbon so that it's nice and neat.
I chose an ornament from Pier One and embellished it by tying in the same 5/8" ribbon I used on the napkin ring.  This is a great opportunity to be creative.  You can use paint, felt, anything and everything to add flare or tie in your Christmas china.
Take you coordinating string and thread the ornament.
(I used an elastic thread.  It holds tight when tying on the ornament.)
Once you have threaded the ornament all you have to do is tie it to the napkin ring!  When I said "Easy DIY" I really meant it!
Be sure to adjust your string to hide the knot on the inside of the ring.
I love this project.  It's simple to personalize your holiday table.  Easily make a set of six or mix and match for a more eclectic look.  Either way, you can have a festive look without taking a bite out of your budget or time.
