I am excited to be starting the process to find a house to cure my renovation itch. In the meantime the hubby and I are in a rental home. For someone who loves design and creating custom spaces being in a rental can have some serious limitations. My fingers are crossed that we will be out of our current rental and into the renovation house within a year. In the meantime I'll be sharing my own personal design challenges and creative solutions.
Moving gave me a great opportunity to sort through all our belongings and whittle everything down to the necessities. Starting over can be a wonderful thing. The flip side of that coin is that I have a mish mash of furnishings desperate for some cohesion. As of this moment our décor looks as though it has multiple personalities. It's driving me crazy. My top priority is to pull together a design plan for the living room.
Obstacle #1 has been deciding what is worth investing the money. Since we will be in this house for a limited amount of time I don't want to spend money tailoring any of my large furnishings to this space. Purchases will be made keeping in mind our next place to live. A vintage sofa has already made it's way to my basement and will be going to the upholsterer next week! It's a great size for any living space. Stay tuned for the full transformation. I'll take you step by step through my process. Here are a few inspiration pics of the design style I'm hoping to achieve.
You can see that I'm loving deep velvets for the sofa. I just can't narrow down the specific color. What color do you love for a velvet sofa?
