Pumpkin Old Fashioned..... There's Nothing Old Fashioned About It

Friday, October 4, 2013

October 1st has come and gone and fall is in full swing.  Why not get in the spirit with the perfect cocktail for the season.  This pumpkin old fashioned is a sophisticated twist on an old favorite. Pumpkin puree and orange bitters round out and soften this masculine drink making it tasty to even the most finicky palette.  Simple and easy to make this cocktail is perfect for parties and gatherings this season.  Did I mention it's DELICIOUS!

INGREDIENTS

2 tbsp. pumpkin puree
1 ½ oz. bourbon
1 oz. maple syrup
½ oz. Grand Marnier
dash orange bitters
Orange peel twist, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine bourbon, Grand Marnier, pumpkin puree, syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake until everything is well blended and strain through a fine mesh strainer into an old fashioned glass with ice.  Garnish with a little orange twist

Note:

- If Orange Bitters are not readily available for you, don't worry.  You can easily find them at these online retailers:   Amazon, TrueBeer, WEBstaurant

- I don't love a sweet cocktail.  If you're the same, just measure the maple syrup to taste.
