Goodbye Chinese Chippendale.... Hello Gothic Arch

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

For the past year I have been obsessed with faux bamboo Chinese Chippendale dining chairs.  They exploded on the scene and for some time were the holy grail of vintage finds.  What is more difficult is finding a full matching set.  My heart still swoons for these beautiful chairs, but I have recently come across something else that makes my heart flutter and it’s even more elusive than the faux bamboo!

This is my new desire.  The Gothic arch rattan chair is a recognizable piece by the McGuire Furniture Company.  Unfortunately it is no longer available and finding a vintage set is next to impossible.  In all my recent searches I’ve only come across two sets of chairs for sale.

I love these chairs because you get the same feel of the faux bamboo with a little extra something special.  Naturally the difficulty of finding these chairs quadruples the attraction for me.  These chairs add a unique layer to any dining area.  Whether you like casual or formal, these chairs can work for you.

There are several different styles of the Gothic arch.  Of course I love them all!

I couldn’t have been more excited when I found these (pic below) Henry Link chairs!  I can’t wait to get my hands on them!  I’m thinking a beautiful white or black lacquer is exactly what they need.  Look for the before and after post in the near future!
How would you like to see these chairs refinished?  Let me know what you think.
